ZappChai this week - We kicked off the week with telco ARPUs' journey to 200, discussing how Jio’s entry in the telecom sector was only a temporary blip in an otherwise growing trend of revenues per user. Vodafone-Idea is the odd one out among its bigger peers, given its recently reported (and relatively much lower) ARPU of 114 accompanied with declining revenues.
The most popular post of the week was on Terry Smith Ratios - covering the 6 financial ratios used by legendary investor Terry Smith to pick quality firms.
Death by Acquisition was a deep-dive on Google’s string of failed acquisitions in the backdrop of big-tech’s antitrust hearing in the US. It comes at an especially interesting time when Microsoft plans on buying Tik Tok, which would be a step away from Satya Nadella’s long-standing view of the firm focusing on productivity suites.
The post on Dixon and DMart tried to diagnose what binds these two stock market darlings and looked at their ability to generate returns in a 3% margin business. And lastly, we tried to understand Viral Acharya’s comments on Japanification in the context of today’s Indian banking system.
